Hello, my name is Ms. Joanna Lee and I am very excited to be your student’s first grade teacher this year! I grew my love for teaching as I received my master’s degree at USC and recently taught 6th grade math and science in Pasadena. I loved the relationships formed, however I can’t wait to work with our young scholars at Van Ness and inspire a stronger love for learning!
As an educator, I implement clear and consistent routines and expectations, which leads to a positive classroom environment of being safe, respectful, and responsible. My goal for each of my students is for them to become creative, collaborative, and hard-working critical thinkers through innovative, engaging, and rigorous lessons that are sensitive to each individual. Furthermore, my classroom will build and foster strong, positive characters. We will spend ample time reflecting and practicing ways to show kindness, respect, and compassion towards one another.
I am excited to partner with our students, parents, and teachers of Van Ness to build a safe and fun learning environment.
