Hello, my name is Ms. Collins. I have been a teacher at Van Ness Avenue for 21 years. I enjoy teaching at Van Ness Avenue because it is a small school with a family like atmosphere. The students at Van Ness Avenue are the absolute best and truly make teaching rewarding for me.
As a young child I knew I wanted to be a teacher, especially when I pretended to be on yard duty in the backyard of my childhood home. Since I was a young girl, I have enjoyed reading and believe it is the key to a student’s foundation for success. My hope is that all children develop into confident and responsible adults realizing one of my favorite quotations by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
